We at the Mount Pearl Paradise Chamber of Commerce are proud to acknowledge the hard-working members of our community at our 2020 awards, to be held virtually on March 31st, 2021. This year’s theme is Resilience. If you know of a company who has gone above and beyond in 2020, please consider them for the following awards:
Outstanding Business of the Year Award (Under 15 Employees)
This award is to recognize exceptional local businesses with less than 15 employees. The award recipient meets the following criteria:
- A locally-based business which has distinguished themselves for their business skills, employee relations, impact on the local economy, and commitment to their community; and will have demonstrated notable achievements in 2020.
Outstanding Business of the Year Award (Over 15 Employees)
This award is to recognize exceptional local businesses with more than 15 employees. The award recipient meets the following criteria:
- A locally-based business which has distinguished themselves for their business skills, employee relations, impact on the local economy, and commitment to their community; and will have demonstrated notable achievements in 2020.
Community Impact Award (Paradise)
This award recognizes a business which has made an extraordinary social, cultural, or environmental impact. The award recipient meets the following criteria:
- A business which has invested in their community through actions and business operations which will have a positive impact within the community through various support for recreation, sports, arts and culture, education, charitable groups, promoting equality and accessibility
- The business will deem social responsibility as an integral part of the business success
Community Impact Award (Mount Pearl)
This award recognizes a business which has made an extraordinary social, cultural, or environmental impact. The award recipient meets the following criteria:
- A business which has invested in their community through actions and business operations which will have a positive impact within the community through various support for recreation, sports, arts and culture, education, charitable groups, promoting equality and accessibility
- The business will deem social responsibility as an integral part of the business success
Best New Business Award
This award recognizes a company which demonstrates professional integrity, excellence in customer service, and success through innovation. The award recipient meets the following criteria:
- The company has been operational and completed between one fiscal year and up to five fiscal years at the time of the nomination deadline
- The business works to establish a reputation for integrity and a high level of customer service in the community
- Achievement of outstanding results in initial year(s) of business
- Demonstrated creativity and innovation in overcoming obstacles to achieve these results
Outstanding Employee Award
This award recognizes an employee who has gone above and beyond, deserving recognition from their peers in the business community. An employer, manager, or colleague may nominate an employee. The award recipient meets the following criteria:
- An individual who has a reputation for integrity and a high level of customer in the community
- They take initiative and consistently exceeds expectations
- Portrays a positive attitude toward work responsibilities and works well with other members of the staff
- An employee who went above and beyond in a particular situation
Resilience Award
This year we will celebrate a business which has innovated, adapted, and found prosperity in the face of Snowmaggedan and the COVID-19 pandemic. This company was agile and quickly pivoted to perhaps grow their e-commerce offerings, moved to digital-first operations, or spotted new opportunities to sustain or helped them grow during these difficult times. 2020 Outstanding Business Award winner meets the following criteria:
- A business which made significant contributions to the economic health of the community, including financial contributions, business growth, and the introduction of new or innovative product(s) or service(s); employee development; sound or innovative business practices; community service and customer service
Communication/Marketing Award (Company & Marketing Firm)
This award recognizes a company or marketing firm who created an exceptional campaign or marketing initiative. The award recipient meets the following criteria:
- A company or firm which created a marketing initiative or campaign demonstrating innovative, impactful messaging, crafted through superb graphic design, copywriting and/or video production
- In the case of a marketing firm, a demonstrated client-focused approach to marketing and public relations
Innovation Award
This award recognizes the innovations of business. The companies who keep moving toward the future, no matter the obstacles. The award recipient meets the following criteria:
- A company making outstanding efforts to preserve and enhance a product or services through the use of new technology or ideology
- Demonstrated leadership through the practical application of innovative solutions for new and existing market needs, resulting in a commercial, environmental, and/or social benefit
